Hello all,

My name is Neil. I am working on a project with the ARC32 and trying to read values from a VS1838B ir receiver module. I have tried pulsin and can get some random numbers but that's it. Im pretty sure its hooked up correctly as the led on the ir module flickers when a button on the remote is hit.
Here is my code:

temp var long
main
pulsin p16,1,main,2000000,temp
serout s_out,i9600,[dec temp,13]
pause 100
goto main

Thanks,
Neil

Im ready to pull my hair out. Here is what Ive found. I have a Keyes ir remote with receiver. It is 38khz and uses the NEC protocol. Im so lost in this. Has anyone done this or have knowledge of it? I have been searching the web and have found info for pic's and for arduino but nothing for basic micro.

Do you have access to a oscilloscope to see the signal from the IR receiver?

HI

please see this video as it shows the waveforms you should be getting BBUT as the VS1838B outputs RAW data including the 38khz carrier signal so could be a tricky one to decode without machine code :- http://youtu.be/BUvFGTxZBG8

Good Luck

Thanks For the replies!
I just ordered a sainsmart DDS120 pc oscope. Im hoping to get this solved soon even If I have to buy a different IR reciever. I already have the Keyes remote (nice and small) and a universal Sony remote (if I have to use it). The scope should be here tomorrow.

I also have a IR Receiver Breakout SEN-08554 coming that has demodulation built in! Should be easy now with a Sony remote. Once I get into it later today or tomorrow I will be on the new oscope. :)

Here is the scope view using a sony remote.

seems to be demodulated.

I don't have the time this is going to need. I decided to go with an arduino mini to do the decoding since the librarys are already made. The arduino mini can decode and send serial data to my obsolete arc32. Not sure why the arc32 was abandon its such a great board, guess arduino took over just as VHS over beta or blue ray over hddvd. Luckily I have 3 or 4 of them :)
