I have a need for 2 of the "Mad Hatter's" Microcontroller Board it is currently showing Out of Stock any news on when it will be available again?

To get started I would settle for a scratch and dent or even a second hand one, if some one is willing to sell (Paypal works for me).

Acidtech,

Thanks for the reply... are you planning on getting more or are these being discontinued?

Thanks
John

Greetings Nathan,

I am sorry to hear that you will not be offering the Mad Hatter in the future. I of course don't understand your business and will assume that this product discontinued due to what I will assume was lower than expected sales/interest in this item.

With that said I DO HOPE in the future that Basicmicro considers releasing another "Arduino compatible shield" device based on one of the the other BM products (I know there is a shield for the Nano but it simply isn't as "sexy" as the Mad Hatter..I know ...I need to get out more).

As I've stated before; I simply want to have a NON C-BASED DEVICE TO PLAY WITH! I recently saw an Arduino-based Project in a model railroading magazine that I will assume will come under fire once many of the people begin to explore the C code (vs. the much easier to understand BASIC) :)

Just my two cents-Brian

Hi Brian,

I am 95% sure we have 2 of the Mad Hatter PCB's in stock at BasicMicroUK but once they have gone the bad news is I fear that will be it for the Mad Hatter,

Good News is that BasicMicroUK are working on a CPU board that will use either the Nano-28 or the Nano-28X and mate to an Arduino Shield,

The power input will be via a standard DC Jack as well as screw terminals for robotics applications and there will be a RED POWER ON LED, the input is reverse polarity protected, Low Dropout regulators will allow a power supply input voltage between 8 and 16 Volts and the Arduino Shield power connector is supplied with +5V as well as +3.3 Volts at up to 1 Amp on each line,

All the Nano-28 lines are ported to the Arduino Shield connectors, one spare Nano-28 line goes to a Green USED LED,

The CPU can be either the standard Nano-28 running at 13,200 Basic Instructions per second BUT you can also fit the Turbo version Nano-28X and then plug in a 20mhz resonator to a 3 pin header on the PCB to allow you to run at up to 33,000 Basic Instructions per second,

There is a 3 way connector to enable the standard Nano USB programming adaptor to be connected to the PCB even with an Arduino shield plugged in and a RESET button is also fitted again fitted in a position where it can be used with a shield in place, all parts are low profile to allow the fitting of over sized shields that are larger than the CPU board itself, the LOL shield for example,

The Prototype is being run right now and the first batch of completed PCB's are due in at the end of May

These new PCB's will then be listed on the www.basicmicro.co.uk site,

I am sure this will be a very useful CPU board as where as it does not have all the features or the speed of the Mad Hatter board it will easily be powerful enough for a lot of applications where the economical Nano CPU combined with the Arduino shield range can be used along with a powerful and easy to learn BASIC programming language for a whole host of applications,

I hope this helps,

Many thanks
Dave.
