Just some minor observations,

it would be great if "View new posts" and "View active topics" worked a little better. We had the same initial problems on the LM forum (maybe ask Jim).

Also, you might want to make the "www.basicmicro.com" above an active link.

But this forum format is much nicer then before.

Cheers,

Alan KM6VV

How is view new posts not working? I use that one every day and I seem to get all the new posts. As for view active posts, it's never worked well for me either. I suspect there is some setting in the forums back end that sets what is considered active, but I haven't found it yet.

I think (based on LM's forum), that "View New Posts" should go back a day or so, or maybe fill up a page. I'm (only sometimes) getting 1 or 2 posts.

I've also played with "View Active Topics", but it doesn't seem to show many posts either. Should show a bunch for the last 7 days, or whatever.

Not a real problem, but these searches are quite useful, when they show the files.

Thanks,

Alan KM6VV

View New Posts shows new posts since the last time you were logged in. If you log in and log out and log back in you lose any of the new posts in the view new posts page. At least thats what it seems to do.

It's probably all configurable. New posts seems to act like unread posts. I suppose it can work however you want!

Unread posts are truely all the posts you haven't read. New posts are only those posts you haven't read since the last time you were logged in. I did fine the threshold value for the view active topics. It was set to 25. I've set it to 5.

The threshold does what, specifies the minimum number of posts to a thread over a period of time needed to call it active? We just have one active thread then. (low volume on forum).

OK, as I said, it's all fine, no real problem. Unread is the most valuable, and it is working (except for a brief time a few days ago. Got really strange search results, working fine now).

And I'll suggest it again, in case you missed it, the title:

on the top of the screen could be made a working link. Gets you customers faster!

Thanks!

I assume the new threshold won't take effect except on new threads. Also the one thread marked as active doesn't meet the threshold. I expect there is some bug in the phpBB3 but I don't have any access to patch it. We have a guy who set it up for us. If/when he gets a chance to look at it, will be when it gets fixed. :(
